What you can filter by
Managers and Administrators can filter the People & Skills Finder by:
- Manager
- Team
- Location

- Skills
- Development Plans

Filters can be combined to narrow your results to exactly the group you're looking for.

Step 3 — Choose a value and apply

Combining filters for precise results
The real power of filtering comes from combining categories. A few practical examples:
- Location + Skill → "Who at this site holds a current pool lifeguard qualification?" — invaluable for rostering and incident cover.
- Team + Development Plan → "Who in my team is on the Duty Manager development pathway?"
- Spotlight + Location → "Who are my High Performers at this site?"
Tip: Each filter you add narrows the results further. Start broad with the most important filter, then layer additional filters to home in on exactly the group you need.
Tips and best practices
- Filter for action, not just curiosity. The most valuable use of filters is answering an operational question — finding cover, planning development, or identifying a critical group.
- Keep underlying data current. Filters are only as accurate as the data behind them. Skills, Development Plans, and Spotlight tags need to be kept up to date for filters to return reliable results.
- Clear filters between searches. If your results look unexpectedly narrow, you may have filters still applied from a previous search. Clear filters and start fresh.
- Combine thoughtfully. Over-filtering can return very few (or no) members. If you've narrowed too far, remove a filter to widen the results.
- Use Location and Team for day-to-day operations. These are often the fastest way to get to the people you work with most.
Troubleshooting
My filter returns no members.
This usually means no members in your scope match the filter — for example, no profiles have that skill tagged yet, rather than no one holding the skill. Confirm the underlying data is up to date, or remove a filter if you've narrowed too far.
A skill, Development Plan, or Spotlight group isn't available to filter by.
These filters draw on data tagged to profiles. If an option is missing, the relevant skill, plan, or group may not exist yet or may not be tagged to any members in your scope. Check with your Administrator.
I expected to see a particular member but they're missing from the results.
Confirm the member's profile actually has the value you're filtering on (for example, the skill is tagged). Also check you haven't accidentally combined filters that exclude them.
The results didn't change after I applied a filter.
Make sure you selected Apply after choosing your filter value. Refresh the view if needed.
I can't see all employees, only some.
Your results are scoped to the members you manage or have access to. If you need a wider view, check your access with your Administrator.
Can I filter by more than one value in the same category?
In many filters you can select multiple values (for example, two skills or several locations). Combine these with other categories to refine further.
