Activation Status tells you who has been welcomed into Prosper and who hasn't yet activated their account. By filtering on it, you can quickly find inactive members and send them a welcome email — either in bulk or one at a time — to get your whole team onboarded and using Prosper.
Who this is for: Managers and Administrators
Read time: 5 minutes
What Activation Status means
- Active — the member has activated their Prosper account and can log in, receive notifications, and take part in surveys, performance reviews, and send Kudos to their team mates.
- Inactive — the member exists in Prosper but hasn't yet activated their account, usually because they haven't actioned their welcome email.
Sending (or resending) the welcome email is how you prompt inactive members to activate.
Prerequisites
- You must be a Manager or Administrator.
- Members must already exist in Prosper to be activated.
Part 1 — Filtering by Activation Status
Step 1 — Open the Activation Status filter
Navigate to People & Skills Finder in the menu, select Filters, then Activation Status.
Step 2 — Select a status and apply
Select an Activation Status and Apply. In this example, we'll choose Inactive.
Inactive will now show under Filters, and the list will display only inactive members.
Tip: Filtering by Inactive is the fastest way to see, at a glance, how many of your people still need to activate — and to action them all in one go using bulk actions below.
Part 2 — Activating members through Bulk Actions
Bulk actions let you welcome many members at once — ideal after onboarding a new site or team.
Step 1 — Select members
Navigate to People & Skills Finder and select the members for activation. To do this in bulk after filtering by Activation Status, check the box under Bulk Actions.
Step 2 — Choose the bulk action
Select Bulk Actions, then Activate / Send Welcome Email, and Apply.
Note: Bulk Actions can also be used to send a message, send Kudos, and activate surveys to a group defined from the People & Skills Finder. Simply use the filters and define your target group, then apply the relevant Bulk Action to reach everyone in that group at once.
Step 3 — Send the welcome email
Your chosen recipients will auto-populate. Select Activate / Send Welcome Email.
Part 3 — Activating members one-by-one
To welcome a single member, use the per-member action.
Step 1 — Open the activation action
Select Actions for the member.
Step 2 — Resend the welcome email
Select Activate / Send Welcome Email.
Step 3 — Send the welcome email
The chosen recipient will auto-populate in the modal. Select Activate / Send Welcome Email.
Tips and best practices
- Filter first, then bulk action. Filtering by Inactive gives you a clean list to select from, making bulk activation fast and accurate.
- Welcome new starters promptly. The sooner a new member receives their welcome email, the sooner they're active and engaged. Build activation into your onboarding routine.
- Resend when needed. Welcome emails can be missed or land in spam. If a member hasn't activated after a few days, resend — individually or in bulk.
- Check Inactive periodically. A quick filter on Inactive every so often surfaces anyone who slipped through onboarding and still needs welcoming.
- Pair with a heads-up. A short message to your team letting them know to expect (and action) a Prosper welcome email lifts activation rates noticeably.
Troubleshooting
A member is still inactive after I sent the welcome email.
The member needs to action the email to activate. Ask them to check their inbox (and spam folder). If they can't find it, resend the welcome email.
The welcome email is going to spam.
Ask members to check their junk/spam folder and mark Prosper as safe. If this is widespread, your IT team may need to allow-list Prosper's sending domain.
I can't see the Bulk Actions checkbox.
Confirm you're in the People & Skills Finder list view. Filtering by Activation Status first makes bulk selection easier.
I activated the wrong member.
Sending a welcome email simply invites them to activate; it doesn't cause harm. If a member shouldn't be in Prosper at all, contact your Administrator about deactivating or removing them.
Can I resend to many members at once?
Yes — filter by Inactive, select the members under Bulk Actions, and use Activate / Send Welcome Email to send to all of them together.
