In Prosper you can set another team member as an employee's direct manager. With the foundU integration this happens automatically – this guide explains how.
foundU keeps managers and employees separate
foundU stores managers and employees as two different record types, with no direct link between them:
- Employees – the people who log in to view payslips and similar records.
System Users – internal logins. A System User with User is a manager ticked is a foundU manager.
One person often has both – a System User login for manager tasks, and an Employee record for payslips. Prosper uses a single record per person, so it needs a way to recognise that these two foundU records are the same person.
How Prosper maps managers
Prosper maps your foundU employees into Prosper. It does not map System Users on their own.
As it maps each employee, Prosper looks for a System User with the same email. If it finds one, and that System User is a manager in foundU, Prosper:
- gives that person the manager role in Prosper, and
- assigns them as manager to the employees they manage.
yvonne@example.com), so Prosper treats them as the same person and applies the manager role. The email addresses must match
Important: The System User's email and the employee's email must be exactly the same. If they don't match, Prosper can't link the two records and the person won't be picked up as a manager.
By default Prosper matches on the employee's standard Email field. If you need to match on a different address, populate the PEX → Work Email custom field – when it's set, it overrides the default. We recommend relying on the default email where you can. If you're unsure, contact Prosper.
Note: foundU enforces unique emails on the standard email field, but not on custom fields. If you use the PEX → Work Email override, make sure the address is unique across all of foundU – a duplicate can map the wrong person as a manager.
Adding a new manager
Tip: When a new manager joins, create a new System User rather than reusing another manager's login.
An existing System User login is likely already mapped to an employee. Prosper doesn't support automatically re-mapping a System User to a different employee, so reusing an old login can leave the mapping pointing at the wrong person.
Quick reference
- Prosper maps foundU employees – it doesn't map System Users on their own.
- If an employee's email matches a System User who is a manager in foundU, that person gets the manager role and is assigned to the employees they manage.
- The two emails must match exactly.
- Need a different address? Use the PEX → Work Email custom field to override the default – keep it unique across foundU.
- For a new manager, always create a new System User – don't reuse an existing login.
